Single Fibre/Mode (SC-1550nm) with Link Failure Propogation, 20KmFast Ethernet 10/100Base-TX to 100Base-FX Single Mode/Single Fibre WDM Media Converter. Models available in 20, 40, 60 and 80Km variations.
Alloy offer a complete range of media conversion for Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, ATM, and asynchronous Serial Networks over various interface types such as Multimode and Single Mode Fibre Optics, Copper RJ-45 and copper Serial. All Converters are fully compliant with IEEE multi-protocol standards, including 10Base-T/2/FL, 100Base-TX/FX, 1000Base-SX/LX, and ATM protocols.
The Converters ship as standard with a mains plug pack, but can also be directly powered from a PC or Notebook via a PS2 keyboard adapter or a spare USB slot (FE-C120 series only). For centralised media conversion a hot-swappable, 10 slot, 19 inch rackmount chassis can be used to provide a single power source for multiple converters. The Rack chassis solution provides various power options from Dual redundant to single power supplies in either Mains AC voltages or Telco 48V DC options.
Specificly the FE-C120S3/5 range of converters are used for conversion of 10/100Mbps Ethernet to Fibre 100Base-FX. They are fully compliant with the 802.3u standard and feature one TP RJ-45 10/100Mbps port and one fibre 100Mbps port using a single "SC" connector. The FE-C120S3/5 "single fibre converter" is designed with an optic Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology that simultaneously transports a bi-directional full duplex signal over a single fibre.
The FE-C120S3/5 is unique in that it adds a manual over-ride function to the 10/100Mbps port selection. This enables the user to force either 10Mbps or 100Mbps at either Half or Full Duplex from easy to access DIP switches mounted on the side of the case.
Power for the FE-C120S3/5 range of converters can now be taken from the Host PC or Notebook's USB port. This enables the converters to operate without the necessity of mains power (in the case of a notebook), and without the need for additional power points or mains expansion boards. USB cable is approx 1.5 meters in length. Note: other power options also available.
The FE-C120S3/5 range supports 'Link Status Propagation'. This feature enables propagation of the link signal across both ports of the converter and is seen as a critical feature for managed networks that utilize SNMP type trap events to notify network managers of potential problems. 'Link Failure Propagation' can also be used in modern OS's where Ethernet Link loss can atc as a trigger to enable a standby route.
The FE-C120S3/5 converters can be installed as standalone units or as a slide-in module to the 19" converter rack ( CR-1000 ) for use at a central wiring closet. These converters must be used as a pair, ie FE-C120S3.S20 connects to FE-C120S5.S20 and visa versa.
