The following explains how to define the IP address in a Edgecore L2/L3 switch. 1) Connect the Serial interface of the switch via the supplied cable to a terminal application: Use any of the following baud rates: 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, 115200 (Note: Set to 9600 baud if want to view all the system initialization messages) Set the data format to 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and no parity. Set flow control to none. Set the emulation mode to VT100. When using HyperTerminal, select Terminal keys, not Windows keys. Press "enter" several times to bring up the interface (or if the switch is powered down - Turn the switch on) 2) At the Username prompt, enter “admin” At the Password prompt, also enter “admin” (The password characters are not displayed on the console screen.) 3) From the CLI (command Line Interface "console #" prompt) Type “configure” and press 4) Your prompt should now indicate: "Console(configure) #" Type “interface vlan 1” This enables access to the interface-configuration mode. 5) Type “ip address ip-address netmask” where “ip-address” is the switch IP address and “netmask” is the network mask for the network. Press 6) To set the IP address of the default gateway for the network to which the switch belongs, type “ip default-gateway gateway” where “gateway” is the IP address of the default gateway. Press 7) Type “exit” to return to the global configuration mode prompt. Press 8) Save the current running configuration, so that on a power cycle the same settings load. From the root CLI level ("console #") Type “copy running-config startup-config” and press Enter the name of the start-up file (eg "startup"). Press Other Command Line Tools Check IP address : Console# show ip interface result : IP address and netmask: 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0 on VLAN 1 Ping Utility : Console# ping 10.0.0.5 size 256 count 4 result: Type ESC to abort PING to 10.0.0.5, by 4 256-byte payload ICMP packets, timeout is 5 seconds. etc..
