A CopperLink 2173 Series Ethernet Extender Kit offers an efficient and cost effective solution for long range 100Mbps connections to peered 10/100Base-TX Ethernet LANs. The 2173/E-SKD is a replacement Local Extender Device.
The CopperLink™ 2173 Series is Patton's fastest Ethernet Extender and leverages existing twisted-pair copper cable infrastructure to deliver high-speed Ethernet extension. Providing up to 70/70Mbps symetmetrical or 100Mbps/70Mbps asymmetrical data rate speeds, the 2173 Extender is the perfect solution for delivering tripleplay communications services and other bandwidth-intensive applications. CopperLink™ Ethernet Extenders easily inter-connect remote devices or remote networks to a central LAN for such applications as medical imaging, video-conferencing, Ethernet bridging, Triple Play, and VoIP.
2173 Extenders are supplied as a kit, comprising local and remote devices. Their compact size and connection options make installation easy. The dual 10/100Base-T Ethernet ports are equipped with shielded RJ-45 jacks for connection to an Ethernet hub/switch, PC, or network-enabled device. The CopperLink Line port is equipped with an RJ-45 jack for easy connection to the CopperLink Extenders. For convenient installation, 2173 devices auto-sense and configure for 10Base-T or 100Base-TX as well as full or half-duplex operation. Both local and remote 2173 Extender devices are available for purchase separately.
The Model 2173 includes an auto-rate adaptation feature providing the maximum achievable asymmetrical line rate based on environment and the length and gauge/type of cable. Asymmetrical line rates are the ideal solution for applications that require longer extension between their Ethernet devices and for applications that primarily involve high downstream requirements. These asymmetrical applications include high resolution IP video for security, medical imaging, livestock monitoring, underwater video, and internet gaming. Also included in the Model 2173 is the ability to configure the Ethernet Extender for a hard set 25-Mbps symmetrical line rate. Typical symmetrical applications include remote LAN extension, video teleconferencing, and data backhaul.
