The MS888G2-NPS is a Modular Fast Ethernet Layer 2 Web and SNMP Managed Switch Chassis with 3x bays for up to 24x UTP or fibre Port Modules, dual Gigabit RJ-45/SFP port arrays, and two bays for single or dual redundant AC or DC Power Supply Modules.

The MS888G2-NPS is the 'barebones' chassis that provides the hardware platform for Alloy's MS888G2 Series of high performance Modular Layer 2/SNMP Fast Ethernet Switches. With a Web interface and SNMP management, these switches provides a modular solution for 100Mbps networking with fibre or copper termination. The MS888G2-NPS chassis supports up to 24x 10/100Mbps copper or 100Mbps fibre ports, with a Network Port Modules installed in any combination in any of the three Slots in the chassis.Two fixed Gigabit Ethernet paired dual media ports to support 1000Mbps uplinks via optional mini-GBIC Transceiver Modules installed.

Intelligent Network features are rsident on the chassis and offer a complete management solution that can enable you to scale your network from a single departmental switch up to larger enterprise environments. Spanning Tree Protocol (STP and RSTP) support provides network redundancy features, IGMP snooping offers support for streaming video and multicasting images, tagged VLAN offers logical security and management of nodes within defined groups. QoS based on port priority queues and ToS bytes ensure efficient forwarding of critical network data. The switch also supports a full range of management options such as intelligent Web browser management with user-friendly pull-down menus, and Help Pages, Telnet and RS-232 Console based Management and SNMP and RMON groups 1,2,3,9 for critical networks that require real time fault diagnostics and alerts. Up to 16 switches can be virtual stacked and managed via a single IP address.

All Power and Network Port Modules for the MS888G2 chassis are 'Hot Swappable' allowing the switch to be configured with different port variations without having to power down your network.

The MS888G2-NPS chassis facilitates high availability services through intelligent network management and support for dual redundant power supplies; either single AC or DC 'hot swap' modular Power Supply can be installed in any mix using the two power bay module slots on the rear of the chassis.Other models in the MS888G2 Series are available pre-installed with single or dual redundant power supplies.
